Other online games have similar policies. A spokesperson for Origin told us that Ultima Online uses a bad language filter to weed out bad language, and that under the terms of service, players are warned that they cannot use offensive or obscene language within the game.

"It hasn't really been an issue for us," said a spokesperson for Origin, and the only incident she could recall was a guild that used the F-word in its name, which Origin refused to post on the official list of Ultima guilds.
